Ellen J. Sullivan has devoted her career to serving her community. Her work experience includes more than 25 years as a business professional in fields that include nonprofit community development and fundraising for churches and other charitable organizations; providing educational and training materials to hospitals and mental health care facilities; contract consulting for startup companies; corporate communications; and the publishing and promotion of books and other materials about Alabama’s proud history, resources, people, and traditions. Ms. Sullivan graduated summa cum laude from her class at Birmingham School of Law, where she was the recipient of a study grant from the American Academy of Matrimonial Attorneys, and where she is now a member of the adjunct faculty. She is a member in good standing of the Alabama Bar Association and the American Bar Association, and maintains Guardian Ad Litem certification from the State of Alabama. Ms. Sullivan’s previous achievements include Board membership on numerous trade and service associations including the Publishers Association of the South and Writing Today conference. She is the author of several dozen books for adults and children and is the recipient of the Alabama Governor’s Environmental Quality Award. In addition to her J.D., she holds a B.S. in Agriculture from the University of Vermont. Aside from several years in her youth, during which her father’s work took the family to Minnesota and various locations in the Northeast, she is a lifelong resident of Alabama.
